January 10, 2024 Hello Parent(s) or Guardian(s) of Seniors! Senior year of high school is an exciting, busy time for both you and your student. We hope, in the months ahead, that you are able to make wonderful memories of this special time before your student heads off to college. This may also be a time when you begin to have serious conversations about college costs, or how to secure financial aid for college. Although it may seem stressful or confusing, having these conversations and taking action early can simplify the process for your family. With that in mind, we encourage you to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as you are able. Completing the FAFSA is a state law for graduation. The FAFSA is used to determine eligibility for a variety of aid: federal, state, and school-based, as well as grants and scholarships. Your 2022 filed taxes will be needed to complete your students 2024/2025 school years FAFSA Application. The sooner the FAFSA is completed, the sooner you and your student can make informed college choices…and get back to enjoying all the memory-making moments still in store. We highly encourage you to visit Studentaid.gov to begin the FAFSA application. For more information on the FAFSA and financial aid, visit FAFSA.gov. Also, FAFSA help is available! Check with your high school counselor, or visit Form your future to find FAFSA completion events for your state. Please join us for Coffee with the Principal, on January 30th at 6:00 pm as we dedicate the night to help and answer all your questions regarding FAFSA! Dessert and coffee will be provided! Call now or email to save your seat, as seating is limited. RSVP today by calling Family Community Liaison Sendi Fregoso at 760-948-3999 ext 5155 or emailing her at sendi.fregoso@hesperiausd.org. Career Specialist Angie Santiago is the point of contact for all questions about the FAFSA. She can be reached at: 760-948-3999 ext 5148 or angelica.santiago@hesperiausd.org.
