For today's #SchoolSiteHighlight we are going to Hollyvale. At Hollyvale Innovation Academy, every student and staff member belongs to one of four groups called Nests. These Nests are like teams where everyone participates and feels connected. Nests provide a sense of belonging, foster friendships, and promote positive school culture. They encourage students to develop character traits like resilience, innovation, support, and equity. Students earn points for their Nest by demonstrating positive behaviors and academic success. The Nest with the most points each week is recognized and celebrated. Nests meet regularly for activities, learning, and building community. Nests create a strong sense of belonging and support. Students develop positive character traits through the reward system. Healthy competition encourages teamwork and effort.
A BIG congratulations to our August HUSD Students of the Month! The winner for elementary school was Hollyvale's Violet Morris, and secondary was Oak Hill High School's Jayden Bell. For more info please visit: hesperiausd.org/page/student-of-the-month
Today's #SchoolSiteHighlight is at Ranchero Middle School. Their new mini cheer club, led by the incredible Ms. Long and Ms. De La Houssaye, put on an amazing performance for their staff! These talented students stole the show with their energy, enthusiasm, and incredible skills.
#SchoolSiteHighlight We were also at Juniper Elementary yesterday for their Patriot day event. Students and staff wore red, white and blue and created some awesome works of art honoring the holiday. Love to see students and staff coming together like this #OurJuniper
#SchoolSiteHighlight Yesterday was Topaz's annual Pancakes with Patriots event. As always, it was a huge success with a free breakfast for veterans and first responders, a symbolic missing table, student choir singing performances, and a flag ceremony from OHHS JROTC. Topaz Tiger students and staff organized and ran the entire event. Great job Tigers! And a heartfelt thank-you to our veterans and first responders!
#SchoolSiteHighlight Another example of the amazing Patriot Day events at HUSD schools, this time at Cypress School of the Arts! The Cypress Cyclones also wore their best red, white, and blue clothing and created amazing arts and crafts to celebrate the day. The American Flag hearts were an especially awesome touch! Great job Cyclones!
#SchoolSiteHighlight Today we are at Mesquite Trails Elementary for Patriot Day. Mesquite staff and students celebrated by wearing red, white, and blue, singing patriotic songs, and drawing pictures commemorating the holiday. These soaring Eagles are just one example of the many Patriots Day events throughout the district. This post, event, and holiday honors the lives lost and the patriotic unity that carries us forward!
HUSD has been monitoring EPA and AQMD air quality data. Currently, with air quality in the moderate range, the District plans to remain open Wed 9/11/24 with modified schedules to limit time outdoors. If air quality changes to make school closure a necessity the District will make further announcements. We urge families to consider their individual needs when deciding to send their children to school. Again, our deepest thanks to the firefighters who continue to work to keep us safe.
All after school outdoor extracurricular activities have either been moved indoors or cancelled for today. The district will continue to monitor the situation and announce any other future schedule changes.
A BIG congratulations to our August HUSD Athletes of the Month! The winner for middle school was Hesperia Jr. High's Genesis Franco and high school was Oak Hill High's Karson Cox. For more info please visit: hesperiausd.org/page/student-athlete-of-the-month

HUSD would like to take this moment to remember the loss, honor our heroes and promote the patriotic unity that the holiday represents.
Last week at Sultana High School we had Veronica Rousseau and Jessica Soto from Desert Mountain SELPA come conduct a professional training for our high school ECE students. The students learned about effective classroom strategies for circle time and how conscious discipline ties into everything we do in the ECE classroom. The students had fun interacting and learning with our presenters.
