The Hesperia Unified School District and the Hesperia School Police Department want to remind all parents and students that per California law you must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance to drive in the State. This includes going to and from school. Parents and/or students who drive without a valid driver’s license may be found guilty of a criminal offense, which can result in up to 6 months in jail, up to a $1,000 fine and the vehicle may be impounded and towed at the owner’s expense (V.C. 12500, V.C. 22651, V.C. 14602.6). Students who drive to or from school and/or on school property without a valid license may be subject to school discipline up to suspension from school (E.C. 48900). We also want to take this time to remind all licensed and insured parents and students to follow all traffic rules and safety protocols when driving near campus and/or in school parking lots to avoid potential traffic citations and possible school discipline if a student is behind the wheel. Our hope is that by working together we can provide the safest environment possible for all of our students, parents, staff, and community. If you have any questions you can contact your school’s front office or the Hesperia School Police Department.
