Today's #SchoolSiteHighlight is at Carmel Elementary. We went to Mr. Reyes and Mr. Schoch Vex Robotics practice and got to see some amazing robots that the students were building. Most of these students are new to robotics or are barely starting their second year in it. Today the students were participating in their last practice before their first scored tournament and with some advice from Mr. Reyes were fine tuning their bots to be ready for the competition. All bots are built 100% by the students with a certain list of tasks they must perform during the competition in mind. Thanks also to several of our high school students from Sultana High for being there to help set up courses for the elementary students. We are so excited to see how Carmel performs in the Vex tournament and will be rooting them on!

The Elks Hoop Shoot is a free free-throw basketball competition for kids where students can qualify through school site competitions to participate in the "local event" against neighboring school district students. This year's "local event" (which they need to qualify for through your school site competition) will be held in the HHS gym on Sat 12/9/23. From there they can qualify for regional and eventually even national contests (the elks lodge will pay for students to compete at regional and national events). Contact your elementary or middle school to see if they are participating. Note: This event is not organized or implemented by HUSD. For more info: https://www.elks.org/hoopshoot/default.cfm
