As many of you have been following COVID vaccine news, yesterday, Senator Pan announced that he would NOT be seeking to advance Senate Bill 871 at this time, which would have added the COVID-19 vaccine to the list of required vaccinations for students to attend in-person instruction and would not have allowed for personal exemptions.  The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Governor’s office also announced yesterday that they were postponing enforcement of the Governor’s executive action to make the COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for students in in-person instruction at least until the 23-24 school year.  The Governor’s executive action does allow for personal exemptions.  Hesperia Unified School District and many of our families have been anxiously monitoring this bill and executive action and advocating for parent choice.  The COVID-19 vaccine has never been and continues not to be required to attend in-person instruction in the Hesperia Unified School District.
