Yesterday evening the Hesperia Unified School District and law enforcement were made aware of a threatening video circulating on social media. The video shows several males in a home, wearing hoodies and cursing several individuals by first name while covering their faces. One of the individuals appears to be holding a weapon.
Several law enforcement agencies have been working together on this case and they have advised us that the video seems to have been originally posted earlier this week, but only recently gained traction on social media. Although Oak Hills High School is not mentioned in the video and no direct threat against any school was made, the video is being taken very seriously by law enforcement, OHHS, and the district. Contrary to social media rumors, the individuals in this video were not involved in the incident at OHHS on Tuesday 4/23/24 as that incident involved only one individual, who was arrested. Law enforcement agencies are currently working with leads that they hope will identify the individuals in the video soon.
Despite OHHS not being mentioned and no threat against any school being made in the video, the district plans to maintain an elevated law enforcement presence on campus out of an abundance of caution. The district would like to sincerely thank all involved law enforcement agencies for dedicating a massive amount of time and resources to ensure the safety of our schools, students, and staff. As always, we will continue to share information as it is made available to us and we are authorized to do so by law enforcement.
