On February 29, 2024, State Superintendent Tony Thurmond announced the 2024 California Distinguished Schools which recognizes exceptional schools based on their performance on multiple state indicators showing excellence and growth in academic achievement and a positive school climate. Hesperia Unified School District is honored to announce that Hesperia High School and Oak Hills High School have both received the 2024 California Distinguished Schools honor. Only 293 schools in the entire state received this honor and only 10 within San Bernardino County and only 4 in the High Desert.
Superintendent Dave Olney remarked that, "As superintendent, I am extremely proud of these two large comprehensive high schools receiving such a prestigious recognition. The commitment of their leadership, amazing teachers, and dedicated support staff to the success of all students is evident through their academic achievement and positive, inclusive school environment."
Receiving this honor is a testament to the determination and dedication of our secondary staff members to promote positive interactions and opportunities for HUSD students to become the leaders of tomorrow.
Hesperia High School and Oak Hills High School along with other California Distinguished Schools will be recognized for their exceptional accomplishment on May 3, 2024 at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim.
