Four Hesperia Unified elementary teams competed with top schools throughout Southern California in the 2018 VEX IQ Elementary School State Championship held at the Pomona Fair Grounds on February 25th, 2018. The teams included Maple Elementary, Lime St. Elementary and two teams from Kingston Elementary.

As a result of the competition, Maple Elementary earned the Design Award and will advance to the Vex World Championship to be held in Louisville, Kentucky April 29 – May 1, 2018.

“We are proud that one of our robotic teams has made it to the World VEX IQ Robotics’ Championship,” said Maple Elementary Principal Alex Cristales.

“VEX is an opportunity for students to apply 4Cs skills in a practical and innovative way,” said Darrel Nickolaisen, Director of K-12 programs for Hesperia Unified.
